24 Nov Few Famous Photographers and Their Photography
Photography is power. In a world of images, the camera is a tool powerful enough to change the world as we know it. We are all armed with a camera, but great photographers capture moments and build concepts that speak beyond the bounds of the frame. These photographers are called famous photographers. Today I want to introduce a collection of famous photographers & some of their great photography. Let’s have a look…
Kevin Carter
Kevin Carter (1960 -1994) Born in Johannesburg, Carter was an award-winning South African photojournalist. Carter had started to work as sports photographer in 1983. In 1984 he moved on to work for the Johannesburg Star, bent on exposing the brutality of apartheid.

Frank Fournier
Frank Fournier (born 1948 in Saint-Sever) is a French photographer. The son of a surgeon, he originally studied medicine for four years before becoming a photographer. He moved to New York and became a staff photographer at Contact Press Images in 1982 after joining the office staff in 1977. He is most well-known for his coverage of the 1985 Armero tragedy in Colombia. A volcano erupted, which led to a mudslide that killed thousands of people. His portrait of Omayra Sanchez, a 13-year-old trapped under the debris of her home, won the 1986 World Press Photo award.
Born in Budapest, Robert Capa was a 20th century self-proclaimed photojournalist. He was mostly famous as a combat photographer, as he covered as many as five wars, namely, the Spanish civil war, the Sino-Japanese war II, World War II, Arab-Israel War in1948 and the Indo-China war. He always emphasized on catching real life moments, rather than studying about the technical details. Capa is the co-founder of ‘Magnum photos’, along with Henri Cartier-Bresson. He had a sad end at the age of 40, while covering the first Indo-China war, when he stepped on a landmine.
James Nachtwey
Recognized as a war photographer, James Nachtwey is an American. He has been honored with the record number of 5 awards, including the ‘Robert Capa Gold Medal’ of the ‘Overseas Press Club’. He is also famous for his film on photography and photojournalism. He got wounded while taking pictures, during the year 2003, in Baghdad. This photo of Iresha looking out her window wearing a mask to reduce scarring captures the isolation and stigma burn survivors suffer.
